Arnaud Leroy is a French politician, qualified in maritime law, international maritime law and protection of the marine environment law. He began his career as a parliamentary assistant at the European Parliament, then in 2001 he was appointed General Secretary of the French Green party delegation. In 2004, he was appointed to the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA).
A Green party activist until 2005, he joined the French Socialist Party and the Federation of French citizens living abroad, and was elected to the French parliament in 2012. For five years he sat on the French National Assembly’s Sustainable Development, Spatial and Regional Planning Committee and its European Affairs Commission. He was the author and rapporteur of a parliamentary bill called the “Loi Leroy” relating to the blue economy, which was adopted in 2016.
Supporting Emmanuel Macron, Arnaud was his spokesman during the presidential election campaign and was responsible for drawing up his energy programme.
He has chaired the board of the Agency for Ecological Transition since 2018.
