Catherine CHABAUD
Sailor and member, European Parliament
Catherine Chabaud is a journalist and yachtswoman. She was the first woman to single-handedly sail around the world.
As a journalist, she is passionate about sailing but is also closely invested in every aspect of the environment and sustainable development.
On World Oceans Day in June 2014, she was a founding member of the Ocean and Climate platform with the support of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission. She was ambassador for this at COP21, to ensure that ocean-related issues were taken into account during the negotiations.
She was also co-founder of the Innovations Bleues association and of the Fondation de la mer.
